I absolutely love it when pop culture spins back in on itself. A great example of that is here:

It’s a Barbie-themed, um, well, sort of a little playset - Barbie in a nice Tippi Hedron outfit with avian menaces swooping about her head - in honor of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic horror film The Birds.
This is perfectly cool and nice and everything, but I’m wondering: why The Birds? Sure, it’s a classic horror film, one that’s creeped me out ever since I was a little kid (especially the scene where the old man’s corpse is discovered with its eyes pecked out). Is it an anniversary of the film or something?
And, one wonders: what’s next? Barbie as Norman Bates’s mom in Psycho? Barbie in The Exorcist, with a button on her back that spins her head around? Barbie as Barbarella - Barbiarella? The mind reels.
Here’s the final pics from the 1977 Montgomery Ward Christmas catalog: the front cover, and the inside front cover with a full-page ad for the Captain Fantastic pinball machine (for under $700!).
Coming very soon (probably later today): JCPenney 1975 catalog.
